Alert Notice 191: Rare outburst of UZ Boo

AAVSO ALERT NOTICE 191 (August 18, 1994)

RARE OUTBURST OF 1439+22A UZ BOOTIS

We have been informed by AAVSO member observer David York, Abiquiu, NM, and
by Paul Van Cauteren, Aartselaar, Belgium, Tonny Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium,
and Gary Poyner, Birmingham, England, of the outburst of the WZ Sge-type dwarf
nova UZ Boo.  York observed UZ Boo on August 17.167 UT at visual magnitude
13.9.

The last observed outburst of UZ Boo occurred on September 23, 1978, when it
reached visual magnitude 11.5 and remained bright for approximately 28 days.

Recent observations include:  Aug 7.906 UT, <14.4, (G. Poyner, Birmingham,
England), 12.159, <14.8 (M. Adams, McDonald Observatory, TX); 15.891, <13.3
(T. Vanmunster, Landen, Belgium); 16.458, <15.1 (M. Iida, Nagano, Japan);
16.87, <12.5 (P. Schmeer, Bischmisheim, Germany); 17.167, 13.9 (D. York,
Abiquiu, NM); 17.224, 13.9 (York); 17.849, 12.0 (J. Pietz, Erftstadts,
Germany); 17.903, 11.8 (Vanmunster); 18.108, 11.7 (Adams); 18.188, 11.6 (R.
Royer, Lakewood, CA).

Accompanying is an AAVSO "e" scale chart of UZ Boo prepared by C. Scovil. 
Please use it to observe this star and report your observations to AAVSO
Headquarters so that we may inform the astronomical community.  Please
indicate which comparison stars you used in making your observations when
reporting them.  The answering machine at Headquarters, with our charge free
