Special Notice #79: Update of Alert Notice 361: HST Observations of SDSS091908

November 12, 2007: This is an update to the Request for Observations given in Alert Notice 361, on upcoming Hubble Space Telescope observations of SDSS091908, a cataclysmic variable with a pulsating white dwarf primary.

We are currently 36 hours prior to the STScI decision on whether it is safe to observe this CV or not. To make this decision, they require that the target be fainter than approximately V = 14.0. The PI, Dr. Paula Szkody, requests intensive coverage of this CV from observers world-wide to assure that HST mission controllers have the information they need to approve observations.

Observers are requested to observe SDSS091908 (SDSS J091945.11+085710.0; AAVSO designation 0914+09) as often as possible between now (2007 Nov 12 21:20 UT, JD 2454417.39) and the decision time (2007 November 14 09:46 UT, approx. JD 2454418.9). Full details of the requested observation procedure are given in the Alert Notice.

SDSS091908 is located at RA 09:19:45:11 , Dec +08:57:10.0 (J2000).

A chart for this object may be generated here: http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/vsp/index.html?pickname=SDSS091908

Please report all observations to the AAVSO as "SDSS091908" (AAVSO designation 0914+09). Observations are time-critical, so please report all observations as quickly as you are able to do so.

This AAVSO Special Notice was prepared by Matthew Templeton.
