AAVSO Robotic Telescope Proposal Submission Form
To request observations, please complete and submit the form below. Your request will be reviewed by the AAVSO Telescope Allocation Committee, and you will be notified as to whether your request will be granted or not. If your proposal is accepted, observations are made and images are fully processed (dark subtract, flat field) and stored on our ftp site for your download. We also will automatically extract and perform photometry on all stars in your images; you can either access these starlists or perform your own photometry. Each project will be reviewed periodically, and those groups who are not utilizing their images may be subject to cancellation.
Read about The AAVSO Robotic Telescope Network (AAVSOnet) for information and specs on each telescope.
Note: The common feature of all AAVSOnet facilities is queue-scheduled observations of scientific targets, using MaxImDL for image acquisition, TheSky for telescope control, and ACP for queue scheduling. We do not support interactive telescope use, and discourage "pretty picture" observations. AAVSOnet is available free-of-charge to all dues-paying members of the AAVSO. Because of the scheduling flexibility, the optimal targets are those where an observation needs to be made once or twice per night over extended periods of time. We can do high-cadence time series of targets, but since this ties up the telescope, we usually require a good justification for such observations.
