Amount of Energy Distributed

Wed, 11/21/2018 - 23:51

Hello!

I was wondering if there is a way to find out how much energy is being distributed in a certain frequency after computing fourier analysis ? I have the fundemental frequency showing me the most power is going into it - but I was wondering if there is a way to compute how much of the total power is going into the main pulsation ??

Maybe im just not understanding what " power " means in this instance

Any help is appreciated!

Thank you

Hi Ariella,

Hi Ariella,

Have you considered  or done Brad Walters AAVSO course on using Vstar . There are two levels.

I don't what your level of physics is. The standard text on stellar pulsations and still good is an old (~1990) text by Cox.

A  newer and more advanced one is "Asteroseismology" by Aerts, Christensen-Dalsgaard, and Kurtz.

Maybe the thesis of Dominic Bowman " Amplitude Modulation and Energy Conservation of Pulsation Modes in Delta Scuti Stars" would be helpful.
