Abstract

The DAOPHOT method provides an efficient solution to the problem of measuring stellar magnitudes in crowded fields. We present here a detailed description of the method as implemented in IRAF through a worked example on the emission-line star KW97 42-41. In the last chapter we also present, with the support of spectroscopic data, an analysis of the physical properties of the star.
