April 5, 2016: Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 536, close monitoring of the cataclysmic variable SS Cyg is urgently requested. Immediate notification of the beginning of the anticipated outburst is crucial and is requested.
The success of the multiwavelength (radio and optical) observing campaign on SS Cyg underway depends on immediate reporting of outburst behavior to trigger multi-site radio observations.
August 26, 2015: Roque Ruiz-Carmona (Ph.D. candidate, Institute of Mathematics, Astrophysics and Particle Physics, Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands) has requested AAVSO assistance with his campaign to observe (a new set of) 17 cataclysmic variables (CVs) with the William Herschel Telescope (WHT) next week.

March 18, 2015: Dr. Paula Szkody, University of Washington, has requested our help in monitoring the cataclysmic variable GW Lib for upcoming Hubble Space Telescope observations, scheduled to be made during the window 2015 April 22-25 UT. Dr. Szkody also observed this object with HST in March 2011 and March 2010 (see AAVSO Alert Notices 433 and 417, respectively).
November 10, 2014: Astronomer's Telegram (ATel) #6676 (B.J. Shappee et al. 2014) notes the discovery of ASASSN-14jv, a bright optical transient found at V=11.3 on 2014 November 9.19 (JD 2456970.69). This object is suspected to be a cataclysmic variable of the WZ Sge subtype. Shappee et al. note that the source is less than one arcsecond away from a g=19.1 magnitude source in the Kepler Input Catalog, suggesting a large amplitude typical of UGWZ stars.
October 7, 2006: Akira Imada reports in a post to the VS-Net Alert Discussion Group that H. Maehara has observed VY Aqr in outburst (V=12.46 on Oct. 07.56330). AAVSO observers are asked to observe this field both visually and with a CCD and report their observations as soon as possible. The latest reported AAVSO observation is <13.8 visual on Oct. 04.8201 by Eddy Muyllaert (MUY).
