AAVSOnet Epoch Photometry Database

The AAVSOnet Epoch Photometry Database comprises robotically-processed photometry obtained from all images taken with AAVSOnet telescopes.  The major component of this database are observations from the Bright Star Monitor network, as these telescopes have taken the majority of images.  There are smaller datasets from telescopes that were only operational during the early days of AAVSOnet, covering fewer targets but going much deeper and often with high cadence (time series).  For all current telescopes, the intent is to provide public access to older dat

Astro Data Mining Blog

Dr. John Rachlin has launched a new blog highlighting resources useful for those interested in data mining astronomical databases. From his blog:

This site discusses data-mining applications in Astronomy, an area that I believe will become increasingly important with the emergence of high-throughput high-redundancy digital surveys occurring across many different wavelengths. These ambitious survey efforts will generate petabytes of data annually, thus creating important opportunities for data analysis and in silico discovery.

Data Mining Section

"Data mining" is a phrase used to describe the activity of performing research solely by using preexisting data. The American Association of Variable Star Observers (AAVSO) is an amateur astronomy research organization that participates in a wide variety of research, education and technology initiatives. This web site is meant to support the AAVSO membership and astronomers in general in their data mining activities.
