Alert Notice 378: Request to monitor RE J1255+266 for HST Observations

May 5, 2008: Dr. Paula Szkody (University of Washington) and collaborators have requested our help in monitoring the cataclysmic variable RE J1255+266 for upcoming Hubble Space Telescope observations. Dr. Szkody requests nightly monitoring of this source beginning immediately, and continuing through 2008 May 15 UT.

RE J1255+266 is located at RA 12:55:10.80, Dec +26:42:27.0 (J2000)

Alert Notice 403: Request for observations of V2105 Oph in support of HST observations

August 30, 2009

Dr. Brian Espey (Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland) has requested photoelectric photometry and bright star CCD photometry of the semiregular variable V2105 Oph beginning immediately.  These observations are in support of ultraviolet spectroscopy to be obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope on Wednesday, September 2, 2009.  Observations are requested to continue through Sunday, September 6, 2009.

Alert Notice 405: Request for observations of NSV 99 (khi Peg) in support of HST observations

October 2, 2009

Dr. Brian Espey (Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland) has requested photoelectric photometry and bright star CCD photometry of the semiregular variable NSV 99 (= khi Peg) beginning immediately.  These observations are in support of ultraviolet spectroscopy to be obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope in late October and late November 2009. Observations are requested to continue through the end of November 2009.

Special Notice #371: BB Ari observations particularly crucial now

September 24, 2013: HST/COS is scheduled to observe the SU UMa-type variable BB Ari:

BB Ari  2013 September 27 03:01:26 through 06:29:37 UT

The HST scheduling team will likely make their final decision early on September 26, so your observations are essential NOW.

Special Notice #369: GZ Cet (SDSS J013701.06-091234.9) HST/COS obs next week

September 5, 2013: HST/COS is scheduled to observe the WZ Sge-like SU UMa variable GZ Cet (SDSS J013701.06-091234.9) next week. Observations are scheduled for:

GZ Cet  2013 Sep. 13 12:24:02 through 19:06:54 UT

Alert Notice 418: Request for monitoring of V842 Cen in support of HST Observations

March 12, 2010: Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 417, the AAVSO requests intensive monitoring observations of the cataclysmic variable V842 Cen beginning immediately (2010 March 12.5 UT; JD 2455268.0) and continuing through 2010 March 19 (2455274.5). These observations are in support of the Hubble Space Telescope Cosmic Origins Spectrograph observations of V842 Cen planned for 2010 March 18 UT.

Alert Notice 417: Request for observations of GW Lib and V842 Cen in support of HST observations

March 3, 2010: Dr. Paula Szkody (U. Washington) has requested the help of AAVSO observers to provide monitoring of two cataclysmic variables, GW Lib and V842 Cen, in support of Hubble Space Telescope observations in March 2010. Observations of both objects are requested beginning immediately, with intensive observations requested beginning 48 hours prior to the scheduled HST visit.
