Alert Notice 538: Observations of V694 Mon (MWC 560) requested for Chandra campaign

February 26, 2016: Dr. Jeno Sokoloski (Columbia University) and Mx. Adrian Lucy (graduate student, Columbia University) have requested AAVSO observations of the jet-driving symbiotic star V694 Mon (MWC 560), which is in outburst, in support of upcoming Chandra observations to investigate the state of the inner accretion disk during this outburst.

The Chandra observations are scheduled (preliminary schedule) for 2016 March 8 (7:17-14:13 UTC) and March 9 (2:20-9:17 UTC).

Special Notice #253: Request for Observations of MAXI J1836-194

September 10, 2011: Dr. Gregory Sivakoff (U. of Alberta) requests observations of the X-ray binary star MAXI J1836-194 as part of the JACPOT collaboration studying stellar radio jets from compact binaries.  There is no predetermined duration for this campaign, but observations are requested now to coincide with ongoing X-ray and radio observations.

Special Notice #248: Radio outburst in V1343 Aquilae

Note: This text was updated from the original to include the most recent observation. -M. Templeton, 2011 August 11

August 11, 2011: The star V1343 Aquilae is reportedly undergoing a radio flaring episode, and optical observations over the next few weeks are encouraged to track the optical behavior.  S.A. Trushkin et al report in ATel #3547 that observations with the RATAN-600 show a large increase in radio fluxes at 4.8, 8.5 and 11.2 GHz beginning around JD 2455777 (2011 August 03) and continuing through the present.
