Special Notice #26: Possible Minor Outburst of 0324+43 GK Persei

December 15, 2006

Coordinates: 03:31:11.82 +43:54:16.8 (2000.0)

Recent observations of the old nova intermediate polar magnetic catclysmic variable GK Per (Nova Per 1901) show the star brighter than minimum. However, it is too early to tell if an outburst is underway.

Alert Notice 517: Monitoring of AM Her urgently requested in support of XMM-Newton and NuSTAR observations

April 2, 2015: Dr. Axel Schwope (Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam, Germany) has requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the magnetic variable AM Her in support of upcoming XMM-Newton plus NuSTAR (Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array) observations.

The XMM-Newton observations are scheduled for 2015 April 06 02:37:02-15:07:02 UT. The NuSTAR observations have not been made final yet but are expected to run longer. A Special Notice will be issued when the NuSTAR schedule is known.

Special Notice #4: Outburst of 1137+72 DO Dra

February 6, 2006: The DQ Her-type (intermediate polar) magnetic variable DO Dra is in outburst. This star has outbursts at irregular intervals that last only 4-5 days. The
last outburst reported in the AAVSO International Database occurred in March
2005, when the star reached visual magnitude 11.2.

Alert Notice 184: Brightening of YY Dra (= DO Dra) AND Requests for monitoring (SS Cyg, EX Hya, VW Hyi, AM Her)
