Campaign extended until further notice: As V404 Cyg's behavior following outbursts is clearly unpredictable, AAVSO observers are asked to continue obtaining multicolor photometry as well as visual observations. - April 2017

June 18, 2015: V404 Cyg, an X-ray nova and a low mass X-ray binary (LMXB) with black hole component, is undergoing its first reported X-ray and optical outburst since 1989. Large scale, rapid variations are being reported in wavelengths from X-ray to radio by professional and amateur astronomers worldwide.

February 13, 20115:  Patrick Schmeer (SPK, Bischmisheim, Germany) reports the announcement on the CBAT Transient Object Confirmation Page (TOCP) of the discovery of a bright transient in Sgr [V5667 Sgr] on 2015 February 12.852 at an unfiltered magnitude of 10.9 by K. Nishiyama, using a 105-mm f/4 camera lens with an SBIG STL6303E CCD camera.  Nishiyama notes nothing is present on a previous image from 2015 February 02.887.  The transient has been independently confirmed with two pre-discovery images: by H.

Special Notice #11: Possible New Object in Ophiuchi [V2576 Oph]

April 7, 2006: P. Williams (Heathcote, NSW, Australia) reports through AVSON on the discovery of a new object in Ophiuchi. It has been visually confirmed by Maciej Reszelski (Szamotuly, Poland). Photographic confirmation by B. Liller (Vina Del Mar, Chile) on panchromatic film with an orange filter has been reported through CV-Net.
