Special Notice #401: AM Her NuSTAR observations April 5

April 3, 2015: Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 517 (www.aavso.org/aavso-alert-notice-517), Dr. Axel Schwope (Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam, Germany) informs us that the NuSTAR X-ray observations of AM Her will take place on

2015 April 5  15:35 UTC - April 6 19:15 UTC

These NuSTAR observations overlap with the XMM-Newton observations scheduled for April 6.

Filtered photometry with standard filter (BVRI) is requested using the cadence given in Alert Notice 517.

Alert Notice 517: Monitoring of AM Her urgently requested in support of XMM-Newton and NuSTAR observations

April 2, 2015: Dr. Axel Schwope (Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam, Germany) has requested AAVSO observers' assistance in monitoring the magnetic variable AM Her in support of upcoming XMM-Newton plus NuSTAR (Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array) observations.

The XMM-Newton observations are scheduled for 2015 April 06 02:37:02-15:07:02 UT. The NuSTAR observations have not been made final yet but are expected to run longer. A Special Notice will be issued when the NuSTAR schedule is known.

Special Notice #4: Outburst of 1137+72 DO Dra

February 6, 2006: The DQ Her-type (intermediate polar) magnetic variable DO Dra is in outburst. This star has outbursts at irregular intervals that last only 4-5 days. The
last outburst reported in the AAVSO International Database occurred in March
2005, when the star reached visual magnitude 11.2.

Alert Notice 322: Multicolor CCD campaign for AM Her to support XMM Newton observations AND BP Hyi eclipsing binary campaign

July 14, 2005

SUBJECT:
1. MULTICOLOR CCD CAMPAIGN FOR AM HER TO SUPPORT XMM NEWTON OBSERVATIONS
2. BP HYI ECLIPSING BINARY CAMPAIGN

1. MULTICOLOR CCD CAMPAIGN FOR AM HER TO SUPPORT XMM NEWTON OBSERVATIONS

Summary
The polar AM Her is going to be observed with the XMM Newton satellite observatory later this month. We have been asked to coordinate multicolor CCD ground based photometry during the observing periods.

Alert Notice 326: Request to monitor 2035-01 AE Aqr for multiwavelength campaign AND Reminder to monitor HT Cas, Z Cha, and OY Car

August 24, 2005

SUBJECTS:

1. REQUEST TO MONITOR 2035-01 AE AQR FOR MULTIWAVELENGTH CAMPAIGN
2. REMINDER TO MONITOR HT CAS, Z CHA, AND OY CAR

1. REQUEST TO MONITOR 2035-01 AE AQR FOR MULTIWAVELENGTH CAMPAIGN

Alert Notice 365: Request to Monitor EF Eri for Hubble Space Telescope Observations

January 6, 2008: Dr. Paula Szkody (University of Washington) has requested our help in monitoring the magnetic cataclysmic variable EF Eri for upcoming Hubble Space Telescope observations. Confirming observations are requested to ensure that EF Eri is fainter than the safe observing threshold during the HST observing window on 2008 January 17 UT.

EF Eri is at RA = 03:14:13.20 , Dec = -22:35:43.0 (J2000).

Special Notice #286: Revised Timetable for June AE Aqr MAGIC Observations

8 June 2012: Dr. Christopher Mauche, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, has informed us that the timetable of MAGIC telescope  observations of the intermediate polar cataclysmic variable AE Aqr announced in AAVSO Alert Notice 458 has been revised. Here is the revised timetable for the dates in June:
