February 26, 2016: Dr. Jeno Sokoloski (Columbia University) and Mr. Adrian Lucy (graduate student, Columbia University) have requested AAVSO observations of the jet-driving symbiotic star V694 Mon (MWC 560), which is in outburst, in support of upcoming Chandra observations to investigate the state of the inner accretion disk during this outburst.
The Chandra observations are scheduled (preliminary schedule) for 2016 March 8 (7:17-14:13 UTC) and March 9 (2:20-9:17 UTC).
January 19, 2016: Dr. George Wallerstein (University of Washington) has requested AAVSO coverage of the long period/symbiotic variable R Aquarii beginning immediately in support of high resolution spectroscopic observations planned for 2016 January 19 and 21.
October 30, 2015: Dr. Peter Kuin (Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London) and colleagues in the Swift Nova group have requested AAVSO observers' assistance in multicolor monitoring of V5668 Sgr (Nova Sgr 2015 No. 2, see AAVSO Alert Notices 512, 519) in support of an upcoming spectroscopic observation with the Hubble Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS).
August 13, 2007: AAVSO Alert Notice 348 (issued April 6, 2007) included the request from Dr. Gordon Sarty, University of Saskatchewan, for AAVSO assistance in observing four (4) High Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) in support of his spectroscopic observations with the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory (DAO) 1.85-m Plaskett telescope, in Victoria, BC, Canada. Dr. Sarty has obtained additional observing time on these objects and is requesting our continued assistance over the next several weeks.
June 26, 2013: Dr. Noel Richardson (Université de Montréal) is helping coordinate a very large ProAm campaign (over 20 professional and amateur astronomers) this summer on three bright Wolf Rayet stars in Cygnus. Dr. Richardson, fellow co-PIs Drs. Tony Moffat (Université de Montréal), Nicole St.-Louis (Université de Montréal), and Thomas Eversberg (Schnoerringen Telescope Science Institute, Waldbroel, Germany), and their colleagues invite AAVSO spectroscopists and photometrists to participate in this campaign.
7 November 2012: Further to AAVSO Alert Notice 473 (www.aavso.org/aavso alert-notice/473), Principal Investigator Darryl Sergison (University of Exeter) requests that spectroscopists planning to observe the targets RY Tau, DN Tau, and/or DR Tau image the corresponding telluric standards below at the same time:
