Special Notice #262: Long-term monitoring of AGN targets extended

November 2, 2011:  The observing campaign described in AAVSO Alert Notice 443 (M. Templeton) has been extended through the end of November 2011. One of the original targets, NGC 6814, has been removed from the target list for the remainder of the campaign.

Special Notice #252: Upcoming Eclipse of Zeta Aurigae

September 8, 2011:

Jeff Hopkins (Hopkins Phoenix Observatory, Phoenix, AZ) communicates regarding the upcoming eclipse of the 4th-magnitude binary system zeta Aurigae. He writes:

Alert Notice 441: Monitoring of Bright Giant Variables requested in support of ground-based spectroscopy and for long-term study

Note:  A thread for this campaign has been created in the AAVSO Campaigns and Observation Reports discussion forum:  https://www.aavso.org/bright-giant-variables-campaign

Coverage of the stars in this campaign should be continued for long term monitoring. Spectroscopy is not being obtained, but optical coverage is needed to help understand their behavior.  -  Elizabeth O. Waagen, 17 April 2020

Alert Notice 440: PEP Observing Campaign on P Cygni

Note: This campaign is the subject of the AAVSO Spectroscopy discussion forum thread: https://www.aavso.org/p-cyg-monitoring-intrinsic-h%CE%B1-flux

Also, spectroscopy reports should be submitted to the AAVSO Spectroscopy Database (AVSpec, https://www.aavso.org/apps/avspec/).  -  Elizabeth O. Waagen, 20 May 2020

CONTINUED THROUGH 2020 AT LEAST

Alert Notice 426: Rescheduled request for observations of V455 AND in support of HST observations

October 5, 2010: As originally announced in AAVSO Alert Notice 423, Dr. Paula Szkody (U. Washington) has requested the help of AAVSO observers in monitoring the WZ Sge-type cataclysmic variable V455 And in support of Hubble Space Telescope ultraviolet spectroscopic observations.

Alert Notice 423: Request for observations of V455 AND in support of HST observations

August 30, 2010: Dr. Paula Szkody (U. Washington) has requested the help of AAVSO observers in monitoring the WZ Sge-type cataclysmic variable V455 And in support of Hubble Space Telescope ultraviolet spectroscopic observations scheduled for 6:55-15:20 2010 September 11 UT (the night of Friday, September 10/11) (JD 2455450.78819 - 2455451.13889). Observations are requested beginning immediately and continuing through September 20. This monitoring is crucial to these observations.
