Charts and Sequences Update January 2015

With APASS data release 8 filling in most of the remaining areas of sky with reliable secondary standards, the sequence team has been busy filling the remaining standing requests. This latest batch of new and revised sequences also has many newly discovered CVs from ASASSN, as well as sequences for RCB, NR and ZAND objects in the AID and VSX. You can downoad the list as either an .xlsx or .csv file.

VSP Help Guides

The VSP help guides are in the process of being updated and will be reposted as soon as the edits are completed.  In the meanwhile if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them in the AAVSO Forums or contact us. Clear Skies!

Charts and Sequences Updates September 2012

The latest release of APASS has allowed us to create new sequences and improve older sequences for hundreds of stars.

If you would like to request a new comparison star sequence for a star that currently does not have one please see the instructions for doing so located here.

If you find an error or have issues with an existing sequence, please submit those to CHET.

New VSP upgrades

We held another VSP workday this week and tackled a few VSP bugs and feature requests. Most of the changes are minor and I'll list them below. We did not get to everything on the list. Our next workday will probably be in a couple of months. Feel free to submit feature requests or bug reports to aavso at aavso.org.

As always, thanks to Michael Koppelman and Chris Watson for taking time out of their day to help us!

Minor VSP upgrades

Hi, all. Today we rolled out some relatively minor upgrades to VSP. There is nothing groundbreaking here. It's mostly minor tweaks and bug fixes. But I'm outlining them here for your information:

Additions
 - There is a new "reset all" button that will reset all fields in the user interface to their default values.
 - The variable star designator (cross hairs at the center of the chart) now appears on all charts, regardless of the limiting magnitude.

Accessing the Variable Star Plotter Via the Get Method

IMPORTANT: The interface described on this page is deprecated, and will be shut down in the near future. It is replaced by the new VSP API. If you have a program that is using this interface, please update your program to use the new API immediately.
