Observation Band Descriptions

The band field of the Quick Look File describes the bandpass used to make the observation. Below are the available bandpasses.

  • N/A Unknown filter
  • Vis.: Visual observations
  • U: Johnson U band
  • V: Johnson V band (a.k.a. "photometric V")
  • B: Johnson B band
  • R: Cousins R band (Rc); current standard
  • I: Cousins I band (Ic); current standard
  • RJ: Johnson R band; less common
  • IJ: Johnson I band; less common
  • SZ: Sloan z band
  • SU: Sloan u band
  • SG: Sloan g band
  • SR: Sloan r band
  • SI: Sloan i band
  • CV: Unfiltered with a V zeropoint
  • CR: Unfiltered with a Red zeropoint
  • J: J band (NIR 1.2micron)
  • H: H band (NIR 1.6micron)
  • K: K band (NIR 2.2micron)
  • TB: Blue filter from the RGB set (Tri-Color Blue)
  • TG: Green filter from the RGB set (Tri-Color Green)
  • TR: Red filter from the RGB set (Tri-Color Red)
  • Orange: Orange filter (used by Liller)
  • Yellow-Vis.: Yellow filter used visually
  • Green-Vis.: Green filter used visually
  • Red-Vis.: Red filter used visually
  • Blue-Vis.: Blue filter used visually
  • MA: Wing A (712 nm) near-IR filter
  • MB: Wing B (754 nm) near-IR filter
  • MI: Wing C (1025 nm) near-IR filter
  • STU: Stromgren u filter
  • STV: Stromgren v filter
  • STB: Stromgren b filter
  • STY: Stromgren y filter
  • STHBW: Stromgren Hbw filter
  • STHBN: Stromgren Hbn filter
