HOAFUN 2.0 is a Windows version of the DOS program HOAFUN distributed in the AAVSO Hands-On Astrophysics curriculum.

What is HOAFUN?

HOAFUN is a very simple tutorial for making variable star estimates and understanding the light curves of various types of variable stars. It has a game you can play to estimate a variable star and build your own light curve. At the end of the game a certificate can be printing with your score and personal lightcurve. It also has many tutorials covering different lightcurves of popular variables such as SS CYG, Z CAM, U GEM, and more.

It is designed for junior high and high school aged students but is good for anyone just starting out.
