Help support VPHOT cloud computing costs
I am writing to this forum today to ask for your help in supporting VPHOT
cloud costs. I assume if you read or subscribe to this forum you have used
VPHOT at one time or another.
As you may know, cloud computing and storage costs for VPHOT is not
supported as a line item in the annual budget. It has been and
continues to be supported almost entirely through the donations of
generous AAVSO members.
Arne has asked me specifically to raise $6000.00 to pay for cloud
computing and storage costs for VPHOT for two more years. Since day
one, when Geir Klingenberg and Michael Kran donated VPHOT (then called
Photometrica) to the AAVSO, the cost for Amazon cloud services has
been paid in two year increments by some very generous donors. I would
like to spread that burden out between the users of VPHOT and people
who are regular benefactors to the AAVSO.
We need 24 people to give $250.00 each and we can check this expense
off the list for 2013-2014. If you believe VPHOT is worth supporting
at that level, or any other amount, please make a donation online at
Select General Fund in the drop down menu and in the comments section
please write "In support of VPHOT cloud costs." This will ensure your
donation is used for the intended purpose.
Thank you for your time and generosity,
