Hello all,

I'm happy to announce that the new VSP is back online! You can access it here:

http://www.aavso.org/apps/vsp/

Over the next few weeks I'll be working to put the finishing touches on the new VSP. Please test it out and let me know what you think!

Feedback on VSP Beta

Hello Will

Tried VSP Beta.  I like it.  I particularly like that North up and East Left looks like the default--just like in the sky.

One thing that I would suggest is that a button be added to get both the chart and the PT Chart without going back and reselecting--if that is possible with the way the two data bases are accessed.

New VSP

Hi Will,

I agree with Gary on both the chart orientation and his suggestion about getting both the CCD chart and the PT chart with one click. I always put the PT on the back side of the CCD chart. As it is, I have to first download the CCD chart and print it. I then need to flip the chart over, go back to get the PT, copy it and print it on the back side. Since my printer has the capability to print on both sides, it would be nice to have the CCD chart and PT downloaded at the same time on two separate pages. The printer would then print both at once.

Cheers,

Print Chart and Photom

Love Keith's idea of printing both the photometry and the chart at the same time.  I also print a chart and print the photometry on the back of the chart.

I also like the idea of printing out the photometry in the filters that I select.  I don't want photometry for filters I don't own.  It just crowds the page with information that I don't need.

VSP Beta and Transform Applier

I used Transform Applier with a Chart ID from VSP Beta (Chart ID was X15087D).  TA does dot recognize that chart ID so I had to go to the non-beta version of VSP for a chart ID for TA to recognize.  I am using ver 2.38 of TA and I believe this is the latest version.

New VSP Beta

Doesn't seem to wok for me. I get this message back :

  • The request has timed out because it took too long generating the chart you requested. This is usually because there are too many stars in the field -- try choosing either a narrower field of view or a lower magnitude limit.

I've lowered things down to mag 12 and 16' FOV. Still no go.

It would be nice to specify a FOV according to one's CCD FOV, e.g. 20' x 25'

@Barbara: TA currently

@Barbara: TA currently doesn't interface with the new VSP yet. We're working on it, but it probably won't work with beta VSP charts until the final version goes live.

@Michael: Can you tell me the specific parameters of the chart you're trying to plot?
