Blurring the Line: Amateurs as Observers & Data Analysts

AAVSO staff member Aaron Price gave a talk titled "Blurring the Line: Amateurs as Observers & Data Analysts" at the SAS Symposium on Telescope Science, the RTMC Astronomy Expo (both in Big Bear, CA) and the 204th American Astronomical Society meeting in Denver, CO. Below are copies of the talk and a summary that was printed in the proceedings of the SAS conference.

The paper outlines a team-based method of organizing amateurs to help astronomers not just in observing but also in data analysis. It gives some examples from the Chart Team, the Comparison Star Database Working Group and the recent BZ UMa campaign as examples.
