The following is from CCD Views, visual observations are also needed. See Eyepiece Views. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. WW CET RXTE SATELLITE CAMPAIGN NEEDS YOUR HELP Please do not forget about the 3-month optical and X-ray campaign for WW Cet. Dr. Darren Baskill is observing WW Cet once a day for 3 months with RXTE. Optical correlation is very important for his project. A light curve of the first month's optical observations along with his X-ray data has been placed on his web site (see below). ** CCDV observations as often as possible are greatly needed! ** Please observe at least once a night through the end of October. During times of XTE observations, please observe as often as possible. Below is the latest list of upcoming slew times. This list is updated at Baskill's web site. All times are UT. SEP 25 13:40:00 to 14:31:00 SEP 26 13:23:00 to 14:19:00 SEP 27 11:31:00 to 12:20:00 SEP 28 19:16:00 to 19:58:00 SEP 29 15:49:00 to 16:39:00 SEP 30 10:41:00 to 11:27:00 OCT 1 12:00:00 to 12:50:00 OCT 2 11:43:00 to 12:28:00 OCT 3 09:51:00 to 10:35:00 Special thanks to Peter Nelson (NLX), Thomas Richards (RIX), and Chuck Pullen (PCH) for already sending in significant CCD observations! Dr. Baskill's web page covers the project in depth along with what he is trying to learn. http://www.star.le.ac.uk/~dbl/xtewwcet.html AAVSO charts for WW Cet are available at: http://www.aavso.org/charts/CET/WW_CET/ Please observe and report your data to the AAVSO as soon as possible. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0006-12 WW CET - REMINDER TO MONITOR FOR RXTE OBSERVATIONS We reported in AAVSO Alert Notice 295 and in Eyepiece Views, Vol 2, No.3, that Dr. Darren Baskill of Leicester University, Leicester, UK, has an observing run to monitor the dwarf nova WW Cet with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE), for a duration of 3,000 seconds a day and for 90 days. The monitoring of WW Cet with RXTE was originally scheduled to start in mid-May, but due 'hectic scheduling' of RXTE, it was delayed. We have been informed by Dr. Baskill that the RXTE observations will now start on Aug. 14 and will last 90 days. Dr. Baskill is requesting the assistance of AAVSO observers to monitor WW Cet closely and if possible simultaneously during his X-ray campaign so that the x-ray and the visual data may be correlated. For a more detailed description of the project, including information on recommended frequency of observations and RXTE observing timetables, please visit the AAVSO webpage that we are setting up for this campaign which will have links to Dr. Baskill's website with further information: http://www.aavso.org/wwcet.shtml
