AAVSO: Validation File

The AAVSO Validation File is the list of stars for which there are data in the AAVSO digitized archives. Many, but not all, of these stars are in the AAVSO visual observing program. It may not include all the stars in the AAVSO special observing programs such as the PEP, eclipsing binary, or RR Lyrae stars. It is updated frequently. Use the star name or designation given here for plotting light curves.

Alterations to the Validation File:

We recommend that you download the latest online version of the Validation File because all of the changes made since the previous version was posted have been incorporated in it. However, you may download the files of alterations that were made, and update the older version of the Validation File you are already using.

Please remember that the files below are already part of the Short Form files and Long Form files given above.

Download these databases and starlists to update the validation file in your data entry programs. Simply back up the existing file and then copy the new one over the original.

StarCensus97.mdb (400K) - Used by PC Obs. (updated every time the validation file is updated)
VALID.AAV Used by KSOLO and KSOLOREP (updated every time the validation file is updated)
