Variable Star Charts

Important Note: This search engine is no longer maintained. Please use the Variable Star Plotter (VSP) to make customized variable star charts.

This search engine will remain in place for the foreseeable future as bugs are worked out of VSP. However, eventually it will be removed. Also, sequences on these charts may differ from those in VSP. So please begin to use VSP as your new source for variable star charts.

Welcome to the world's largest and most popular archive of variable star charts!

Variable star charts are critical to the observing process. It is absolutely vital that everyone use the same chart when observing a star. Using a different chart can introduce scatter to the database. When observing, always check here first to see if an AAVSO chart exists. If so, always use it instead of other charts. When no AAVSO chart exists, you can then use charts made by others.

Over 4,000 AAVSO charts have been made over the past 90 years. As such, some show their age more than others. We have a project underway to document all our charts and improve them. Information on our charts and these projects are all available here.
