2001 Updates

December 2001

  • C, CR, F, and FR scale charts are ready for 0625+17 OW GEM
  • A 13th magnitude comparison star has been added to the chart for 2251-41 SN 2001ig in NGC 7424 (Gru). - (12/17/01)

  • 'f' scale charts are available for 2251-41 SN 2001ig in NGC 7424 (Gru). For more information about this supernova, see AAVSO News Flash #887. - (12/14/01)

  • Chart corrections - (12/11/01):

    • Note that the linear scale at the bottom of the reversed 'f' scale chart for 0242+37 AI Per has been corrected to read 7 1/2', rather than 1/4 degrees as was mistakenly written.

    • The NSEW labels on the 'ab' scale for 0343-07 BR Eri have been corrected (they had been misplaced). Also, the previously labled 82 star close to the variable has been changed to 81 to match the 'b' scale chart.

  • New F and FR scale charts are available for PX And. (12/5/01)

November 2001

October 2001

  • F and reversed-f scale charts are available for VAR SMC 01 the possible nova in SMC referenced in News Flash #865 (10/25/01)

  • Approximate 'f' scale charts are now available for 0745+15 PQ Gem. For more information, see the section titled "Request to Monitor Cataclysmic Variables for XMM-Newton Observations" in AAVSO Alert Notice 290. - (10/9/01)

  • Chart updates - (10/4/01):

September 2001

August 2001

July 2001

  • AAVSO charts for 2003+17 WZ Sge are now available. More information about the recent outburst of this unique dwarf nova, including precision photometry of comparison stars for PEP and CCD observers, can be found here. - (7/31/01)

  • The 'f' scale chart for 2003+35 V2274 Cyg (N Cyg 01) has been updated with a new sequence and with its new name. Please be sure to report your observations of this nova to the AAVSO as 2003+35 V2274 Cyg. Also note that the northern star once labeled as 123 on the AAVSO chart is now 115. - (7/23/01)

  • Chart updates - (7/18/01):

    • We have an approximate 'f' scale chart for 2003+35 N Cyg 01. (This chart has been updated -- see above). More information about this recent nova can be found in AAVSO Newsflash #815.

    • An 'f' scale chart has been made for 1750-32 V1178 Sco.

    • New charts for several cataclysmic variable stars are available. Provided are visual and CCD charts for most stars. For a list of the stars and the scales included, click here.

  • 'e' scale charts have been made 1617+19B V589 Her. - (7/12/01)

  • A new chart ('f' scale) has been made for 1617+19B V589 Her. For more information about V589 Her, see AAVSO Newsflash #811. Also, more reversed charts have been added to the chart archives - (7/11/01):

  • An 'f' scale chart is available for 1242-39 SN 2001cz in NGC 4679 (Cen). More information about this recent supernova can be found in AAVSO Newsflash #809. - (7/9/01)

June 2001

  • Note that the recent nova-like object in Scorpius (Var Sco 01) has been assigned the name V1178 Sco. The charts have been updated to reflect this name change. Please be sure to report your observations of this object to the AAVSO as 1750-32 V1178 Sco. - (6/29/01)

  • A 'd' scale chart is available for 1750-32 Var Sco 01. For more information, see Alert Notice 285. - (6/21/01)

  • More reversed charts - (6/20/01):

  • Chart updates - (6/15/01):

    • We have recently made some new charts for several cataclysmic variable stars. Provided are visual and CCD charts for most stars. For a list of the stars and the scales included, click here.

    • The 'd' and 'e' scale charts for 1037+58 IY UMa have been slightly revised. A nearby galaxy plotted as a star was causing identification problems among many observers. The object was removed from the 'd' scale (since it is too faint for the scale) and identified as a galaxy on the 'e' scale.

  • An (approximate) 'f' scale chart is available for 1836-65 1836-65 SN2001cn in IC 4785 (Pav). For more information, see Alert Notice 284. - (6/14/00)

  • More reversed charts - (6/13/01):

  • The year 2000 position given on the 1906+43 ST Lyr charts was in error. The charts have been updated with the correct position. - (6/12/01)
