CCD Charts
| These charts are also available via FTP. GIF
files can be seen through your browser but are best downloaded into your own
imaging program for print. Consult our standard
charts page for hints on doing this. ZIP files are PostScript versions
of the charts compressed using PkZip. They can be printed on any PostScript printer. |
We have several categories of charts available for CCD users:
These CCD charts of 8 Long Period Variables show comparison star magnitudes measured in 4 different filters: B, V, R, and I. Initially prepared to help with the calibration of photometry of red stars with the Hipparcos mission, the monitoring of these stars has continued in 4 colors to provide longterm multiwavelength data for these variable stars.

The purpose of this special CCD program, titled the Faint Cataclysmic Variable (CV) and Long Period Variable (LPV) CCD project, is to monitor the faint minima of CVs and LPVs not easily observed or covered by other observing procedures. Many of the charts here are borrowed from the visual program, however a project is underway to replace the poor visual charts with charts produced with CCD images and accurate CCD comparison star measurements. Some of these latter charts can be found here (the format of these charts is explained in "Other CCD Charts"). These charts have comparison stars that have been accurately acquired through CCD measurements. The values given on these charts include the comparison star value in the V band, along with its B-V and V-R values to indicate the color of the comparison star. Suggested comparison stars are labelled C1, C2, and C3, however many more comparison stars are shown in case they are needed. Observers are asked to report observations of the variable star in the V filter only.
