Recent activity of the AAVSO PEP program
Dr. Matthew Templeton, AAVSO Headquarters
PEP Observations -- FY 2008
During Fiscal Year 2008 (October 1, 2007 --- September 30, 2008),
fifteen AAVSO PEP observers submitted 1317 observations for 81 different
stars, of which 492 observations were archival observations not previously
submitted to the AAVSO, and 107 were uncalibrated time-series observations
of a single star. Of the total, 398 observations were submitted via the
PEPObs automated data reduction page in the
Blue & Gold
section of the AAVSO web site.
The PEPObs processing system currently accepts V-band observations obtained
using the AAVSO standard observing sequence for any of
220 different stars
with established comparison and check stars. All comparison and check star
magnitudes were updated in 2008 to reflect the most recently derived standard
values from the General Catalogue of Photometric Data
(Mermilliod, Hauck, and
Mermilliod 2000) and all older
AAVSO PEP data were re-reduced using the new photometry. All data submitted
through the AAVSO PEP Program are now on a common system with modern
comparison star magnitudes.
AAVSO long-term PEP light curves for selected well-observed stars
The following table lists the AAVSO Program Stars having 50 or more PEP
observations (in any filter) as of 2008 December 31. Note, not all
observations are fully transformed, but the majority are. We may not have
recent PEP data for all stars -- numbers represent the historical light
curves. To view recent light curves, or obtain data for these or any
other variable stars, please visit our
