Recommended Comp Stars For CCD Observers

To properly evaluate amplitude variation and other aspects of the Blazhko effect in RR Lyrae type stars, it is important that all CCD observers use the same comparison stars. The table below lists a number of RR Lyrae stars that CCD observers have been covering and comp stars (by GSC number) recommended by the RR Lyrae Committee based on (B-V) values and proximity to the variable. A ‘V’ filter should be used for these observations. Additional variables and comp stars will be added to this list as our coverage expands. Last updated: 1/27/04
