Solar Eclipse
Totality—August 1, 2008

Mikhail Kuzmin of Moscow, observed the eclipse from Novosibirsk, Russia. More of his images are on the last page of this issue.

Solar activity continues to be very very very low as you can see from the number of days of zero sunspots or radio activity. Thanks to all the dedicated observers who continue to patrol the sun and submit reports. You data still counts and reflects the current status of this cycle. Don't forget to submit your images, drawings and SID plots to include in the bulletin.

The events listed above meet at least one of the following criteria

  1. Event reported by two or more observers within +/- 5 minutes
  2. Event matched to GOES-8 XRA event to within +/- 15 minutes and event time < 1000 UT
  3. Reported by observer with a high quality rating > 8 (scale 1-10)

Solar Events

This month was a repeat of last month. There were 0 Correlated SID events this month. There were also no X-Ray Flares detected by the GOES 12 satellite. The obserber list continues to be small but I thank those of you who continue to monitor for those now elusive flare events. If nothing else this is good time to work on your equipment and and keep things ready for when the sun does once again become active.
