Sudden Ionospheric Disturbances (SID) Recorded During February 2006

There were no SID Events Recorded This Month

Solar Events

As much as I have talked about slow months in the past, no month can or will be slower than this. We had ZERO Correlated SID Events this month even though 14 of you dutifully kept watch and reported in. This in an interesting month in it's own respect. The GOES Satellite only reported 6 X-Ray events, and all of them were B-Class. A few of you did report in with some events; Suprising since I had received so many reports on non-activity. That is OK though, better to be on the side of caution but do use this as a chance to get a feel for what are false positives with your particular reception characteristics. Thanks to all of you for reporting your results. Some day soon the sun will be sure to get active again. As you may have read the next solar max is predicted to be one of the more active cycles so that is something to watch build over the next five or six years. We certainly will be starting from a memorable lull in activity. Although I usually only include observer ID codes with the SID Database monthly record file if some or all of your data correlated with other observers events, this month I have included all of the observer ID codes just for the record of the observers reporting in for the month we had no events in this cycle (first time). I will continue to do this as long as we have months with no correlated events reported. The SID Database can be accessed from the AAVSO-SID web page.
