The events listed above meet at least one of the following criteria

  1. Event reported by two or more observers within +/- 5 minutes
  2. Event matched to GOES-8 XRA event to within +/- 15 minutes and event time < 1000 UT
  3. Reported by observer with a high quality rating > 8 (scale 1-10)

Solar Events

SID eventsSID Activity for October was almost non-existent, only a bit higher than the low recorded back in Febraury. We had only 3 correlated SID events this month and all of them were of low importance rating. This corresponds to the the matching low activity level seen by the GOES-12 satellite which recorded only 34 X-Ray flares. All of these in fact were lower B-Class events. The activity that remained high however was yours. Even though the sun is very quiet, a lot of you are still faithfully keeping watch and reporting in. Only those that reported SID events show up in the bulletin above and in the SID Database file on the AAVSO web site but rest assured your reports are recorded in the observer database that I maintain. Thanks, as always, to all of you for your data.
