Submitting Observations Via E-Mail

The key to submitting observations via e-mail is to follow the Official AAVSO Format! When you have formatted your observations, follow these steps:

  1. Compose an e-mail and put the observations in the body of the e-mail (not as an attachment)
  2. Send the e-mail to observations@aavso.org.
  3. An automated program (we affectionately called "MailObs") will scan your observations for common formatting errors
  4. Within five minutes you should receive a response. It should either be a confirmation of your observations or a note specifically explaining an error we found in the data. Fix the error and resend the data.
  5. Within ten minutes of receipt, your observations should be available via the Quick Look file or the Light Curve Generator. If you have any questions use these programs to confirm that your data is there.
