As Jim Bedient mentions, V1760 Cyg is a Mira variable with a period
around 298 days, with photometry given in IBVS 1904 and spectroscopy
in IBVS 1918. It peaked about V=9, but usually lives at V=13. The
AAVSO has a chart for this Mira.
Minoru Honda ran a photographic (Tri-X film) sky patrol from
Kurashiki, Japan for several years in the 1980's, discovering
several novae. It was common in these "early days" to find Mira
variables mimicing novae since their V-magnitude amplitudes are
so large. Many examples are given in the Living Catalogue of
Cataclysmic Variables (http://icarus.stsci.edu/~downes/cvcat/)
where they are marked as non-CV.
