Rodney,
This issue has come up in the past and I just want to make sure we are all
in agreement on this. Your first link "fullgyrator.gif" shows the logical
circuit schematic for the Gyraytor II VLF Receiver. Your second link "
gyrator.shtml" contains a link to both the "fullgyrator.gif" link above as
well as a link to "Parts Placement on Circuit Board". As far as I can see,
the logical circuit schematic is correct. It is the "Parts Placement on
Circuit Board" diagram that is incorrect. The "+" signs on the "Parts
Placement on Circuit Board" diagram have been mislabeled for the diodes.
The following AAVSO link:
http://www.aavso.org/observing/programs/solar/note.shtml documents the above
error and explains how the connections should be made. The logical circuit
schematic on the AAVSO site is correct as is and is consistent with the
corrections specified.
Please let me know if my understanding is incorrect.
Regards,
Andy

Aaron,
I have to give this advice to new folks trying to build the Gyrator II:
This blueprint has a mistake on the back-end, there is a short between the
diodes, So, don't use this schematic!

Perhaps you can ask if someone on the list can re-design the schematic? My
guess is, folks don't complain much because the FAR circuit board is
correct. But, for folks tyring to build it without the FAR board, it can
cause problems.
