[Aavso-photometry] Var Her 04 Update (+ the new southern nova in Sco)

I'm back after a mini vacation this weekend. It is interesting that Var
Her 04 hasn't rebrightened yet. Looking at all the data we have reveals
lots of periods and trends that will need significant time to sort out. We
currently have 6,525 CCD observations from around 17 people over about 20
days now (intensive coverage over 15 days). And I know we have more
datasets that have not been submitted yet. WAY. TO. GO!

It is unclear whether Var Her 04 will rebrighten or not. However, we need
to remain on watch just in case. My recommendation is for the CCD
observers who are close to burn out to take some time off and relax. BUT
STAY ALERT and ready to react at a moment's notice if an announcement of
rebrightening is made. If you are going to observe then an unfiltered run
of at least three hours would be appreciated. If you have filters and good
aperture, a set of single B and V observations at the start of the run
would be useful. Then the rest of the run should be unfiltered.

We need visual observers to be watching this thing like crazy and please
let us know as soon as you notice any activity!

The light curves have been updated here:

The heavens have given a gift to those the Southern Hemisphere unable to
take part in the Var Her 04 fun. The new nova in Sco could be of a
peculiar type that slowly rises and experiences many shortlived peaks in
the process. Please get at least one CCD measurement per night. It is
important to use a V filter for this object.

 Fun for everyone..

Aaron
