Walt,

I am using version 1.4 of PCObs and it records the CCDV comment in both the
comment code box and also in the comment explanation box. Perhaps you are
using a newer version and this is a bug or oversight. Please contact Lenny
Abbey, the software developer. He will be able to help.

As for the chart codes, for the newer charts it is simple. Use the yymmdd
format. You don't need to indicate the chart scale.
For the older charts it isn't really necessary either, since we do not
distinguish between preliminary and standard charts anymore. In those cases
yymm is fine.

So R And could be either SE9909 or just plain 9909.
Personally, I have re-entered all my chart codes to this format now (yymmdd
or yymm) in PCObs. I like things nice and tidy.

One caveat: the sequences _should_ be the same whether you are using a, b,
d, e, or f charts, but for some of the older (pre-1990) charts this is not
the case. You may want to include the chart code if you find there is a
discrepancy between comp labels on different charts. And if you do, please
report your findings to the Chart Error Tracking Tool (CHET)
http://aavso.sdaa.org/

We are working on these niggling little errors as we go through the chart
error reports made to CHET. Sometime in early winter there will be a huge
set of charts with little fixes like this released and the CHET pages will
be full of green highlighted areas of "resolved errors".
