Hi Fabrizio
I have been using the DSI, with V-filter, and the results have been
consistent with others on the stars that I have been observing. I normally
keep my exposures down to 30 seconds, for dimmer objects, less than 14th
magnitude I have gone up to one minute. I normally take 10 images and
combine them in Autostar Image Processing Software and use the Photometry
routine in the Autostar Software to derive my measurements. You can't beat
the price on the camera though.
I've also done a few tests using the DSI color camera and only measured the
green channel. I was surprised at how similar the results were when
compared to the monochrome PRO using the V-filter. Wish you luck with your
experiences and let me know if I can provide any information.
You can compare my results on SS Cyg with other on the database page. (LGO)
Cheers from K9 Observatory.

Hi to all,
my name is Fabrizio (LFZ).
I'm new to the list, but not to Variable stars
observing.
At now I usually can use an APOGEE AP7P CCD camera
together with a 20 in newton telescope at the Cima
Rest observatory in Italy.
Because it is quite far from my home in Imola, I'm
thinking to buy a Meade DSI Pro to use it with a SC
Meade LX90 telescope when I stay here at home or
during working week nights.
My question is: is that camera a good idea? Is it
suitable for quite good variable star photometry (of
course with BVRI filters)? Has anyone bought that
camera? And, if so, what about it?
I don't need a very good (and expensive) camera (I
already have the Apogee) but I think for that price
it's a good object.
Thank You to all and...
...clear skies (from a raining Italy...Sigh!)
