Hello Mick

Thanks for the info on pixel size.  I cannot comment about the refractor, 
others have a better line on this than I.  Sounds like good work can be done.

However, for best photometry, you should have 2-3 pixels for your FWHM.  With 
this scope/camera, it looks like you are at about 2.1 arc seconds per pixel.  
Depending on your seeing, you could be undersampling.  If you have the scope 
already, use it and see what your accuracy limitations are by observing some 
standard stars.  The limitations may be well within the accuracy required for 
the projects that you intend to tackle.  

If you are considering buying a scope to do this work, I suggest getting a 
longer focal length.  This of course, may put additional requirements on the 
mount, to get proper tracking and pointing.
