[Aavso-photometry] Fw: Variable in field of MV Lyr

Rick,

Thanks for your feedback. I've now uploaded my data as 1904+43E. The comment field contains details of the comparison used. This was an ensemble of 3 of the other comparison stars marked on the chart.

Chris Lloyd at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory has found variation with a 7 day period in ROTSE data for this object. He has produced the following more accurate ephemeris for the primary minimum (assuming a 7 day period):
     JD = 2453659.49 + 7.0008 * E

Regards,
David Boyd (BDG)

  David,

  Also - even though this star has a good sequence, can you please report what star or stars you are using for your reductions (and the values you are using)? In this way, everyone's data has a better chance of lining up :-)

Dave,

Checking to the Suspects Database as I always do with any 'new' discovery', you find that GSC 3132-1448 = 129 comp W = 1904+43E. The star is now labeled 131 on the 031010 chart.http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/Eri-Vul-Suspects.xls

    So, it appears that you have proven the variable nature of this star! Now all we have to do if figure out what kind of star it is. I'll get on it asap to help you out.

    You may want to search the IBVS & ADS and see if you can find out who first suspected this star - maybe there is more information you can get from there.

    In the meantime, report your data as 1904+43E. While you are in the field, you may also want to monitor and report the other 4 suspects in the field (see the Suspects dbase). There is no report on the CHET about +43E, so it will be Mike S's call as to whether or not thea 0.2 variation of this star fiddles with the field enough to warrant a chart revision for visual observers.

    Rick
