Correction: In the first paragraph I say "RT Ari" but it should be "TT Ari".

Hey, all. Both Arne and I are away right now so we can't do a full
court press on this object as yet. However, RT Ari has begun a fade
based on these visual observations:

TT ARI SEP 09.4056 2453622.9056 11.4 CCY
TT ARI SEP 07.9271 2453621.4271 11.3 MUY
TT ARI SEP 07.4236 2453620.9236 11.4 CCY
TT ARI SEP 04.9236 2453618.4236 10.9 MUY

MUY MUYLLAERT, EDDY BELGIUM
CCY CAREY CHISELBROOK GEORGIA, USA

It's last major fade ended in 1984! Although since then it has shown
some shallow fades like this so we cannot be sure that this is the
beginning of a major fading event. However, if so it will be very
important. Here is a beautiful light curve of TT Ari:

Please observe visually and CCD observers in B and V a few times per
night. If you notice that it drops below V=12 then it is likely the
start of a major fading event so begin time series observations in V
and B for as long as possible. And let us know ASAP! :) Set your
exposures to get SNR=100. This is a bright system so it should be
fairly easier than other recent campaigns.

Right now the AAVSO only has a visual chart but Arne has calibrated
the field. In about 6 hours I will post some B and V values of
comparison stars. (I won't be able to make a full chart until I get
back to HQ the week after next.)

TT Ari is an interesting and unique star that defies easy
classification. It has the spectra of a CV but not the typical CV
behavior as it usually stays in the high state. Detailed information
is available here:
