Dear colleagues,

ASAS 023322-1047.0 finally has left its initial outburst stage, trading in
"early superhumps" for regular superhumps. Today, Hiroyuki Maehara (Japan)
announced that his CCD observations show full superhumps with an amplitude
of 0.2 mag. Our own observations of yesterday evening (JD +763.4) only
revealed early superhumps with 0.05 mag amplitude. Maehara's observations at
JD +763.9 indicate that the transition must have been fast and quite
spectacular.

Meanwhile, I have finished analysing all CBA/AAVSO observations of ASAS
023322-1047.0, sent to me over the past days. They have been contributed by
Tom Krajci, David Boyd, Berto Monard, Michael Armstrong, Tim Crawford, Diego
Rodriguez Perez and myself. The 2222 CCD observations cover a time span of
5.8 days, i.e. the entire intial outburst stage, spread over 12 different
observation sets.

I used various period analysis methods in Peranso to analyse the initial
stage ASAS 023322-1047.0 data. I obtained the best results with ANOVA. It
yields an early superhump period of 0.05485 +/- 0.00026 d. The average
amplitude is just below 0.05 mag. I have updated the light curves and other
diagrams at my website (http://www.cbabelgium.com) to display the newest
results. Have a look and enjoy !

Meanwhile, the object has entered a next outburst stage, as said before. I
just concluded an unfiltered time-series photometry session at CBA Belgium
Observatory (2006, Jan 28/29), that confirms the presence of the regular
(full) superhumps. ANOVA yields a superhump period of 0.0552 +/- 0.0016 d,
and an amplitude of 0.21 mag. I have added the light curve of these
observations to my website as well.

Evidently, this object continues to deserve our attention over the next
week(s) !

Best regards,
Tonny
