As mentioned in Special notices 44 and 45, V5558 Sgr is
an interesting nova. Latest photometry shows it holding
steady around V=9.5, but spectroscopy suggests that
we are at an early phase with this nova, and it could
actually brighten considerably - this could be a
"pre-maximum hump."

Mati Morel derived a photometric sequence based on ASAS
and Tycho. We've added this to VSP, so now when you
plot the chart:
http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/vsp/
and enter V5558 Sgr, you will get a chart with comparison
stars.

We still haven't calibrated the field using the Sonoita
Research Observatory telescope. Since outburst, there has
been only one photometric night, and V5558 Sgr just didn't
make it into the queue. We've raised the priority, and
should be able to get a calibration in the next few days.
Until then, I'd suggest holding non-V measures and submitting
once good calibrations are available, or else assume a
magnitude for a given comp star and then resubmit once we
finalize the calibration. This largely only affects the
CCD folk; Mati's sequence should be just fine for visual
observers.

Good luck and clear skies!
Arne
