John's image does show an object about 3arcmin north of TT Boo.
The suspicious facts, though:
- same RA as TT Boo, to within 0.3arcsec
- same brightness as TT Boo when in outburst
- However, unlikely to be an outburst of TT Boo, since the last outburst
was only three weeks ago (and we have recent negative reports anyway)
- high galactic latitude (+60), so an unlikely nova
- no obvious galaxy at that position, so unlikely supernova
- it would be a rare event to have two CVs so close together
with the same RA.
So definitely an interesting observation and worthy of confirmation.
