I was wondering if it is practical to do useful variable star work with a DSLR either using a camera lens or through a larger telescope. The AAVSO manual on CCDs doesn't mention using a DSLR. Is a filter required and does it matter if the image is in colour? Or do you process it into B&W to do photometry? Chris. Spratt (SC) Victoria, BC
