We are trying to track down a problem with the comparison star database.
For several fields, the old charts in the chart archive:
http://www.aavso.org/observing/charts/
had full sequences, but for the new VSP database,
these sequences don't seem to have gotten loaded.
The fields we know about are:
U Cas
AE Aqr
W Com
DH Aql
Since 4 fields have missing comparison stars, we expect others to be
the same way, but we don't have the time to look at each and every
field to find other examples. If you know of such fields,
enter them through CHET:
http://www.aavso.org/bluegold/chet/index.html
(note: you have to be logged into blue and gold to use CHET)
The more fields that we know about, the easier it will be to track down
the bug causing the problem. These fields will be obvious: compared
to the old chart archive, either *no* comparison stars will be shown
in VSP, or only a few stars of a much larger sequence will be shown.
We're not asking about those fields where most of the sequence is
plotted with one or two missing sequence stars, or about those
variables that did not have an existing chart.
Once we have a good understanding of the missing fields, then we'll
do a last update of the comparison star database. Try to give us
your results in the next few days so that we can finish this process
sooner than later.
Thanks!
Arne
