[Aavso-photometry] comparison star update

I posted a while ago that the next comparison star database release
would take place in mid-January, and that we would ask everyone
to update their charts by April 1.
As you can easily see, I missed the mid-January release.
The problem is quality control. It turns out that the comparison
star database team did an excellent job, but there are a number
of typos in the existing database. Michael Linnolt just pointed
out one that appears to be present in the U Gem field, as an
example. So before I update the photometry, I want to clean up
the existing database.
Michael Sallman has been nice enough to do some astrometric
catalog matching of compDB entries, and Matt Templeton is
working on creating a list for me of those stars that seem to
have astrometric errors. I'm hoping that step will be finished
this next week. Once I know I have most of the astrometric
identifications right, then I'll update the photometry.
Unfortunately, I'm leaving for New Zealand on February 29.
There are lots of details I have to take care of before I leave,
so time is *really* tight. I'll try to do the next release before
I leave, but no guarantees. Whenever that release takes place,
we will ask observers to update their charts between 6 and 8
weeks after the release.
So hopefully I'll have news in a week or so. Sorry for the
delay, but I really want things to be right before you use them!
Arne
