Hi David - I've gotten several requests, but it turns out someone at
HQ beat me to it. They are on the AAVSO web site already at:
<http://www.aavso.org/observing/programs/ccd/standards/charts/>
in both the Postscript as well as PDF formats.
There is software for Windows to allow you to view and print
Postscript files. PS is pretty much the default format for many
archived files and papers that originate from UNIX systems. Often,
these documents are only available as PS. Luckily, there are PS
converter programs for Windows for low or no cost. One is GS/View,
which works in the Ghostscript environment. See <http://
www.ghostscript.com/awki>. As I remember from my early days as a
Windoze user, you download and install the Windows ghostscript exe
then do the same with GS/view. When you click on a ps file, it opens
in GS/View and you can then convert it to a .gif, .png, .jpg, .png
and several other graphic formats to save for future use or to import
into other software like MS-Word. But by all means use the
instructions!
However, I have seen the Light and now have the best of both UNIX and
Microsoft worlds with a Mac using OS-X . Click on the PS file and it
automatically converts and displays as a PDF. On the 8th day of
creation, God created the Mac... :-)
