The documentation states: comparison star name or label such
as the chart label or AUID.  In other words, you have three
choices.  The "comparison star name" in this case is any
catalog name, such as GSC, UCAC or USNO-A/B.  In other words,
we have to be able to identify the star somehow here at HQ.
Every star is listed in some catalog somewhere.  The order
of preference would be GSC/Tycho, then UCAC, then USNO.
