Hello everyone,

Alert Notice 373 on SS Aurigae has just been released, which calls for
outburst monitoring of SS Aurigae. After sending this I was reminded by
Gary Poyner that SS Aur just finished an outburst, and thus the
probability of another outburst during the 2008 April 07 XMM observing
window is small.

However, enhanced coverage of SS Aurigae during the next three weeks is
still requested. Optical monitoring of the star will still be used in the
interpretation of the X-ray observations, and thus any visual and CCD
observations of SS Aur will still be useful. Prompt reporting of any
unusual activity (including an unlikely outburst) is also requested.
Filtered (and, if possible, transformed) instrumental observations are
particularly requested, but as the Alert Notice states, time-series are
not required.

I apologize for the (now) confusing wording -- the text is identical to
that of Alert Notice 371 as was originally intended.

Clear skies,

Matthew Templeton
