[Aavso-photometry] VO Event network - should we be a part of this?

While I was at the SAS symposium last week, I learned of the VO (Virtual
Observatory) Event Network:
http://www.estar.org.uk/wiki/index.php/VOEvent
This is currently used by some professionals, but in the world of CV's
there does not seem to be any amateur participation.
Should CBA, CVNet, BAAVSS, AAVSO, etc. play a role in this network?
Would we gain speed and wider distribution (and attention and coverage)
this way? Are there disadvantages to being part of this event network?
(Should we only play a limited role?)
Thanks in advance,
Tom Krajci
