Starting September 1, we will add an organizational affiliation
to all submitted observations. If you go to Blue and Gold,
and select "update my personal AAVSO records," you will
find a "picklist" near the bottom for your primary affiliation.
This defaults to the AAVSO, but if you are a member of
another organization, such as the BAA, BAV, AFOEV, etc.
and you want your observations to be given credit to your
group, you can set whatever affiliation that you want.

This affiliation is used for the observation totals
at the end of the year, to indicate the contribution
from our international colleagues, and may be used by
researchers who wish to give credit to those whose
observations are used in their papers. We will also
begin to include an abbreviation of the affiliation
in the data download files.

If you want to have an affiliation listed other than
the generic AAVSO, be sure to go in and modify your
profile before September 1. While you are at it,
check the other fields and make sure that they
are correct!
